Gene J. Clapsaddle, 77, of Millbury, OH, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2005, in Millbury, Ohio. He was born in Millbury, Ohio, on April 20, 1928, to William and Louis Mae (Stevens) Clapsaddle. Gene was a naval veteran of WW II and was employed as a conductor for 42 years retiring from Conrail in 1990. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and camping. He was active with the Oak Harbor Golf Club, Genoa Lodge #433, Oak Harbor Chapter, Genoa Council, Toledo Commandery, Zenobia Temple Guards, Scottish Rite and was past lieutenant with the Millbury Fire Department.
Gene is survived by his sons, Lyle (Janet) of Genoa, OH, Rev. Thomas (Mary) of Toledo, OH, and Gary (Patrice) of Oregon, OH; stepchildren, Chris (Sheryl) of Genoa, OH, Craig of Georgia, Peggy (Michael) Strock of Sylvania, OH, and Betsy Clapsaddle of Nashville, TN; brother, William (Bernice) of Millbury, OH, and Ed (Barb) of Ney, OH; sister, Lillie Schwamberger of Millbury, OH; sister-in-laws, Myrtle Clapsaddle of Toledo, OH, and Marilyn Clapsaddle of Millbury, OH; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 infant sons; wives, Cora in 1985 and Janice in 1997 and 5 brothers. Also surviving is his loving companion, Wilma Cuthbertson, of Millbury, OH.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, from 2 until 9 p.m. where Lodge services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with interment to follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Gene's name may be given to the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission or St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Millbury, OH.
