Gene A. Saunders, 92 of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Orchard Villa Nursing. Geno was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 4, 1931 to William and Dorothy (Woodruff) Saunders. He had worked  for Toledo Edison for 39 years as a stationary engineer retiring in 1990. He was a U. S. Marine Veteran. Geno was an Ohio State Fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR Racing, hunting, camping, motorcycle riding, as well as cruises and casinos. Geno loved taking his grandchildren on special camping and racing trips. He never stopped asking about or passing on kisses to his grandchildren from their parents.

Geno was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Geraldine and Nancy; companion, Dorothy Zeadker; siblings, Donald, Larry, Sylvia, Bertha; daughter, Sharon; granddaughter, Helena; good friend, Robert among many.

Geno is survived by his, brother, Bill (Pat); children, Larry (Sharon) Amsler, Ernie (Cindy) Avery, Larry (Evelyn) Avery, Jim (Judy) Avery, Cathy (John) Lorton; Dorothy's daughters, Cindy, Kathy, Sandy and Jodie; grandchildren, Connie, Laura, Tom, Kim, Laura, Jennifer Nate, Ryan, Holly, Jamie, Jim, Jodi, John, Ann, Heather, Scott; Poppa Geno was also adored by numerous many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel ,440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, December 7, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm.. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday Dec. 5 at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Geno's memory are asked to consider the Sight Center or American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
