Gene D. Sears, 76, of Northwood, OH, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on February 24, 1928, in Tiffin, OH, to Holland and Mary (Noble) Sears. Gene served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was then employed for 37 years with Toledo Edison as an assistant foreman, retiring in 1990. He was a dedicated member of Hayes United Methodist Church and belonged to their dart ball league. He also was a member of Paragon Lodge #788, High Twelve Club #324, Yondota Chapter #317, VFW Post #2984 and past member of the Scottish Rite. Gene was very devoted to his family, raising his grandson as a son. Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Ruby; daughter, Annette Bowman; grandson, David Bowman and Ashley Turnley; brother, Charles (Theresa) and several nieces. Gene was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held in the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, on Friday, April 2, 2004, from 2 until 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service being held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
