Obituary

Gene A. Shrewsbery, 76, of Oregon, Ohio passed away March 23, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Montcoal, W. Virginia to Howard and Ruby (Wolfe) Shrewsbery on July 27, 1937. Gene was a graduate of Waite High School and a member of Epiphany of the Lord St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He had been employed as a Clerk Forman with CSX at the Presque Isle Docks for 43 years, retiring in 1999. Gene served as the financial secretary for TCU for 15 years. He also served on the CanDo Credit Union Board of Directors for several years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, spending time at Raceway Park, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He loved attending his children'™s and grandchildren'™s sporting events and activities. Most importantly Gene loved spending time with his wife Gladys and being with his family. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Gladys; children, Marsha (Andy) Vasko, LuAnn (Rick) Fox, Gene Shrewsbery and Bill (Melissa) Shrewsbery; grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Shimman, Ricky (Sarah) Fox, Ryan (Breezi) Vasko, Lindsay (Craig) Huntermark, Jordan, Allison, Alex, and Olivia Shrewsbery; step-grandchildren, Jacob Nanes, Damon Aker; great grandchildren, Eli, Isabel and Leah; sisters, Dorothy and Norma Taylor; and Patricia (Ronald) Robison. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 2-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m at Epiphany of the Lord St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in Gene'™s memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Make-a-Wish Foundation. Visitation: Oregon Chapel Thursday 2-9 pm Epiphany of the Lord St. Thomas Church Friday 10-11 am Services: Epiphany of the Lord St. Thomas Friday 11:00 am.
