George R. Amos, 91, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away Monday, November 30, 2009 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 14, 1918 to George and Elizabeth (Job) Amos. George was a graduate of Woodward High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He had been employed by Columbia Gas for 29 years, retiring in 1984. George was an avid reader and enjoyed farming in his spare time.
Surviving are his sons, Michael (Candyce) and Brian (Carolyn) Amos; daughter, Patricia Ayling; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; parents; sisters, Mary Howard, Elizabeth Pilliod and son-in-law, Benjamin Ayling.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in Lake Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy in George's memory are asked to consider the Red Cross or the Sandusky Veterans Hospital.
