George L. Blum, 94, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at McLaren St. Luke's Hospital, with his family by his side. George was born on September 6, 1927 to Paul and Evelyn (Saunders) Blum, 4th eldest of 11 children. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. He was a member of Teamsters Local 20 and worked as a truck driver with G & K Hauling, retiring in 1988. George was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the dartball team. He also had sung for many years in a barbershop chorus. He will be missed by his family, and his morning McDonald's coffee buddies.
George is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Daly, Janet Schacht, and Rosemary Dixon; along with many nieces and nephews, best friends Al Garcia and Jim Cousino. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon on Monday, June 27th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 10:30 at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Rd., Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 9:30 am. Private interment will take place at Lake Township at a later date. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in George's memory are asked to consider First St. John Lutheran Church, Toledo Humane Society, or the donor's choice.
