George W. Brandeberry Jr., 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 21, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. George was born September 22, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to George W. and Sophie (Sobota) Brandeberry Sr. In 1949, he graduated from Waite High School and served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and longtime supporter of Boys Town Charities. A lifelong sports fan, George coached baseball, football along with other sports for Oakdale School and St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for over 60 years. George was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. George is survived by his children, Donna (Bill) Reese, John Brandeberry, Peggy Altenbaugh, and Diane ((Bobby Hilt) Keenen; brother, Robert (Mari) Brandeberry; daughter-in-law, Shirley Brandeberry; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Teresa; son, George M. Brandeberry; son-in-law, Michael Altenbaugh; and brothers, Kenneth "Grant" Brandeberry and Gary Brandeberry. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 12:00 pm in Epiphany of the Lord Parish – St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White Street, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 11:30 am.
