Obituary

George "Harvey" Burchell of Williston, Ohio passed away on August 24, 2008 after a short illness. He was one of eleven children born to Eugene and Eva (Spencer) Burchell in Toledo, Ohio on November 26, 1934. He married his wife of 55 years, Delores on August 24, 1953 in LaGrange, Indiana.  George was a maintenance supervisor at Toledo Overseas Terminal for 17 years and at St. Charles Hospital for 10 years. He helped start the first fire disaster team at St. Charles Hospital and helped start teams at other area hospitals also. George was also employed at Detroit Edison and Fermi II Plant in Monroe, MI before his retirement. He served as a volunteer fireman for Williston-Allen Township until his honorary retirement. George was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston and long time member of the Masonic Order  and the Zenobia Shrine. Harvey and his wife, Delores owned and managed Totem Pole Park in Petersburg, MI for 8 years. Harvey was a Cub and Boy Scout leader and a baseball coach.  He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and enjoyed spending time for years in Grayling, MI, and restoring antique cars. He enjoyed wildlife woodcarving but his greatest passion was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his dog, Trixie.   George is survived by his loving wife, Delores (Grabach) Burchell, of 55 years; children, Harvey Allen, David Martin; grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob, Jamie; godsons; John, Dana; brother, Sonny Burchell; sisters, Evelyn Babcock, Dawn Nickle; sister in law, Lucey Burchell; brother in law, Harold Cowden and former daughter in law, Connie (Randy) Harris. He will also be missed by Harry and Barbara Tubbs, Donna and George Fielding, Delilah Grabach and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Eugene Burchell; 7 siblings and his mother and father in law, Walter and Chrystal Grabach.   Friends and family may visit Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday in St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W. Toledo St., Williston, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. Internment will take place in Allen Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Georges name are asked to consider Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department in Williston,  St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio, or the Shriners of downtown Toledo. Visitation: Wednesday, 5-9 p.m. Thursday, 2-9 p.m. Services: Friday, 11:00 a.m.
