Obituary

George E. Fielding, 82, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 in the Perrysburg inpatient unit of Hospice of Northwest Ohio after 10 years of illness. His family was at his side to say good bye to him on his new journey. Mr. Fielding was born in Toledo on April 23, 1928 to Edward and Goldia (Orwig) Fielding. He grew up in the Point Place area and later moved to Genoa where he raised his 4 sons. Finally, in 1988 he settled in Oregon. George was employed for 44 years as yardmaster at Conrail retiring in 1991. He served as vice president of the Yardmasters of America. Mr. Fielding was a member of Eastminster United Presbyterian Church. George loved boating on his houseboat 'œBetty J. V' and was a member of Bayview Yacht Club. George'™s Masonic affiliations included Barton Smith Lodge #633 F&AM (33 degree), Hi '" 12, Scottish Rite and Zenobia Shrine where he was a member of the Mariners, Patrol and the Campers. George and Donna would enjoy spending their winters in Florida and summers in Grayling, Michigan. He married his first love, Betty (Ball) on April 25, 1945 and had four sons, Dennis (Coni), Dale (Alyce), Dwight (Carolyn) and David (Sherry) Fielding. He married Donna Free in 1988 inheriting 2 step sons, John (Janet) and Bill (Jeanie) Free. George also was proud of his 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Their 'œPapa Bear' loved them all. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; step son, Bob Free; grandson, Jeffrey Dale Fielding and sister, Barbara Thimmes and brothers in law, Robert Thimmes and G. Harvey Burchell. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 9pm in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road where Masonic services will be held at 7****pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Clay Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Shrine Children'™s Hospitals or Eastminster Church.
