Obituary

George M. Ghesquiere, 67, of east Toledo passed away with his family by his bedside on Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after a battle with cancer. George was born in Monroe, Michigan on April 11, 1942, to Leon and Mary (DeGrande) Ghesquiere. He graduated from Waite High School in 1960. George was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and also a member of the Northwood VFW Post 2984. He worked for Libby Owens Ford and B & B Box Company. George was also part owner of the Irish Buffalo Sports Bar in the 1990's. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, jogging, weight lifting and talking to his friends. Surviving are his brother, Leon; nieces, Kathy (Mark) Kinsel, Karen Ghesquiere; nephew, Tom (Jennifer) Ghesquiere; great nephews, Steven and Colton; great- nieces, Cassidy and Kendra. Also surviving are his extended family and many friends. George was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday from 2-9 p.m. and where Scripture services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Erie, Michigan. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in George's memory are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. George's family would like to express their thanks to Gil Yanez and family and also to all of George's friends for the friendship and support given to him during his illness. George we will miss you!
