George M. Murphy III, 45, of Oregon, Ohio, loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with leukemia. George was born May 8, 1979, in Detroit, Michigan, to George and Susan (Greb) Murphy II. He was raised in Defiance, Ohio, and graduated from Defiance High School in 1998. On June 5, 2010, George married the love of his life, Marcy Miller. George enjoyed coaching flag football, basketball, and baseball for the Oregon Rec and basketball for Christ UMC. He was a diehard fan of Michigan Wolverine Football and Detroit Tigers Baseball. George was always willing to volunteer his time coaching his sons' sports teams. Over the years, George worked in manufacturing and as a realtor with Danberry Real Estate. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his wife and children. George will be remembered for his friendly personality and ability to make a joke in any situation. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
George is survived by his wife of 14 years, Marcy; sons, George "Will" M. IV and Kane; mother, Susan Murphy; siblings, Justin (Becky) Murphy, Erin (Joe) Gomez, and Taylor (Gio) Estrada; mother-in-law, Sandy Miller; sister-in-law, Mindy (Kurt) Snow; brothers-in-law, Don (Elaine) Miller, Buck (Christina) Miller, and Jake (Emily) Miller; Great Danes, Ruby & Gus; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. Preceded in death by his father; sister, Ellyn Murphy; and father-in-law, Dan Miller.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio, Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Friday, July 19, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Additional visitation Saturday, July 20, 2024, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Road Oregon, from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Interment: Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in the form of contributions to George's family for his children.
