George 'œJohn' Scott passed away April 18, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born on July 24, 1941 in Collinwood, TN to George C. and Luedell (Adams) Scott. The family moved to the Toledo area in 1942. John attended Birmingham Elementary and graduated from Waite High School in 1959. He was a very hard worker throughout his life. John started working when he was 10 years old as a manual pin setter at the Playdium Bowling Alley on Front Street. When his Aunt Ruby opened Toppers Potato Chip Company, John hired on as a potato loader and worked his way up to become the plant manager. When Toppers closed in the late 1960'™s, John worked various places before he eventually ended up at the Dana Corporation, retiring in 2006. John loved being around people whether it was hunting, fishing, gardening or just enjoying a few beers and telling colorful stories.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Nell Scott, Martha Fannin, Betty Reed, and a brother, Hubert Scott. John is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Donna (Schuman) Scott; his constant companions, Shadow and Sylvie; uncle, Norm Scott; brother-in-law, John (Tammy) Schuman; children, Debby (Chuck) Oswald, Sandy (Jeff) Duvendack, Barb (JE) Kincaid, Jon (Sang Mee) Scott; affectionately known as 'œPapa' to his grandchildren, Chip and Chris Rahm, Jess, Rachael and Josh Kincaid, Logan, Dana, and Maggie Scott, and great grandchildren. John will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, who will always remember him as 'œUnk'.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. The family wishes to extend a warm thank you to the Neuro-Science staff at St. Vincent.
