Obituary

George William Wagner, 78 of Oregon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly in his residence on Saturday, August 17, 2013. George was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 12, 1935 to Howard and Edith (Granger) Wagner. He was a Waite High School graduate. George was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War. In 1977, George retired from the Toledo Police Department where he was a police officer since 1963. He was a member of Paragon Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Fraternal Order of Police, and American Legion Police Post. George will be most remembered as a man always doing for others. His love was being with and spending time with his wife and family. George was instrumental in obtaining markers to be placed in the Police Memorial Gardens. He also had a passion for politics and submitted several articles to The Blade newspaper. Surviving are his loving wife, Tempas; children Mary (Greg) Sharp, Christine (Eric) Rill, Daniel (Jackie) Zervas, Mike (Heather) Zervas, Frank (Helena) Wagner; daughter-in-law, Kim Wagner; 22 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; siblings, Rolland, Robert, Edward Wagner, Beda Bevington, Sharon Truman. George was preceded in death by parents; children, Robert Jones, George Wagner II, Terri Byers, Derron Zervas, Steve Wagner. Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-9 pm. Masonic Service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Fraternal Order of Police and American Legion Police Post services will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Willow Cemetery.
