Gerald "Jerry" Bahnsen, 82, of Oregon passed away in his home on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was born in Toledo on August 20, 1926, to Alton and Vivian (Wineland) Bahnsen. Mr. Bahnsen was a US Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He was a 3rd generation owner and operator of Bahnsen's Service Station located at corner of Dearborn and Starr Avenue. Jerry was an avid model builder who enjoyed both radio controlled airplanes and boats. He also loved to make wine in his basement. Mr. Bahnsen was a past member of Dunberger American Legion Post. Surviving are his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Lynn (Greg) Siloy and Lee (Bob) Schomer; grandchildren, Steve, Scott and Sean Siloy; sister, Carol Underwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn Bahnsen and sister, Elaine Bahnsen. At Jerry's request there will be no visitation and funeral services will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions in Jerry's memory be made to either Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Oregon Fire Station #1. Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home.
