Gerald E. Ehrsam, 91, of Granville, Ohio (formerly of Toledo) passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Toledo on January 30, 1919 to Emil and Kathryn (Coutcher) Ehrsam. He graduated from Waite H.S., married his high school sweetheart and was a WWII Navy veteran. He retired from the Standard Oil Co. after more than forty years and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. Jerry was an avid fisherman, bowler and golfer and was a member of the Chippewa Golf Club. He was also a member of First St. John Lutheran Church. Jerry and his wife Elinor would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on October 25.
He is also survived by his son Dr. Gerald (Linda) Ehrsam; and daughters Carol Sue (Bill) Brownfield and Cathy (Kevin) Martin; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His parents and sister Kathryn preceded him in death. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a keen wit and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman St., Toledo, Ohio.
