Gerald W. Apthorpe, 56, passed away on October 2, 2014 at Promedica Bay Park Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 18, 1958 to Gerald and Doris (DeSelms). Gerald has been working as a truck driver for over 25 years. He loved going to Sunny'™s Campground with his family. Gerald enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Tony Stewart. He was a football fan who loved Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns as well as the Cleveland Indians. Jerry loved spending time with his family, most importantly his cherished grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cindy; children, Gerald Apthorpe and Jennifer (Rob) Taylor; sister, Julie (Steve) King; granddaughters, Sophia Gregor, Kylie, Addison and Peyton Taylor; mother-in-law, Lois Saunders; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister, Joanne Heuring.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd, on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
