In Loving Memory
Gerald A. Murphy, 77, of Oregon, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 in his residence with his family by his side. Gary was born in Perrysburg, Ohio on April 2, 1940 to Victor and Marguerite (Martin) Murphy. He was a 1958 Waite High School graduate. Gary was a U.S. Army Green Beret Veteran, serving 1961-1964. He retired from Champion in 1990 after 26 years of employment. Gary attended Calvary Assembly of God. He enjoyed gardening, hunting wild turkeys, painting on canvas, going on trips with his sweetheart Bea traveling to the Smokey Mountains, New Orleans, Florida. Gary also loved country and gospel music.
Surviving are his children, Vicky (Edwin) Haase, Charles Wilson, Kay (William) Zieroff, Beth (Daniel) Koharski; grandchildren, Stephanie (William) Price, Becki (Jacob) Damron, Larry (Ashley Venia) Voigt Jr., Nicole (Emily Humason) Voigt, Thomas Murphy, Michael Partin; great grandchildren, Kayla, Brandon, Marcus, Hunter, Bryson, Hayden, Amiya; good friend, Iva Lilly. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Flossie "Bea" Murphy.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon on Friday from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Gary's memory are asked to consider Hospice of NWO Toledo or American Cancer Society.
