Obituary

Gerald G. Weaver, 90, of Oregon, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at Perrysburg Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Gerald was born on August 11, 1917, in Walbridge, Ohio, to Irving and Alvena (Huffman) Weaver. He served in the US Army for 4 years in WWII, and was stationed overseas for 3 years. Gerald was employed by the US Postal Service for 31 years as a distribution clerk, and worked for many years part time at LaSalle's Dept. Store. He attended the First Alliance Church in Toledo, and taught Sunday School to boys and adults for many years. Gerald liked to play sports in his youth and enjoyed walking the trails at Pearson Park with his wife in his later years. Reading the Bible and history books was his favorite past time. He belonged to two senior groups and took many trips with the WPOS. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Weaver; sons, Duane (Sharon) and Donald (Lee) Weaver; grandchildren, Jason, Julie (Derek), Joshua, Heather, and Ashley. Friends and family may visit at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with interment following in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Gerald's memory are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Missionaries of First Alliance Church, Toledo, Ohio.
