Gerald D. 'œJerry' Wise, age 89, of Millbury, Ohio, went home to be with his lord and savior on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, OH. He was born in Pomeroy, Ohio on August 30, 1924 to Gerald W. and Gaynelle (Young) Wise. Jerry was employed as a car inspector with the N.Y. Central, Penn Central and Conrail R.R. for 40 years retiring in 1986. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Jerry blessed his family and friends with his many gifts throughout his life, though most notably he is known for his patience and kindness. A church friend once described him best as a 'œgentleman and a gentle man'. Jerry was a devoted Christian and a member of Lemoyne Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his sons, Roger of Toledo, OH and Rick (Sherry) Wise of Whitehouse, OH; daughters, Judith (Glenn) Bedonie of Tallahassee, FL and Peggy (Denny) Scott of Toledo, OH; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret and great-granddaughter, Haley Harris.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 2- 8 pm. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 11 am on Tuesday. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
