Geraldine "Jerry" Cousino, 87, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2005, in the Parkcliffe Assisted Living Community. Mrs. Cousino was born in East Toledo on April 26, 1918, to Frederick and Barbara (Zinterhofer) Norris. Jerry and her husband, Earl, were high school sweethearts, both attending Waite High School. Successful and at the forefront of the Toledo restaurant industry, Jerry was co-founder of today's Cousino's Restaurant legacy, beginning humbly with the Whitehouse Restaurant, located on Miami Street adjacent to the river. Known always for her great attention to detail and customer service, Jerry was instrumental in organizing the day to day operations. She retired on January 1, 1976. Friends, business acquaintances and family alike knew Jerry as a "class act" and "true lady". Not only was Jerry a very hard worker, she was a source of family strength and inner beauty. In her retirement away from the business scene, she enjoyed Great Lakes boating, cross-country motor home ventures, and simply tending her many houseplants. Although always up for travel, she also found great enjoyment in spending time in Toledo and at home. Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Earlton; children, Carolyn Vassar, Thomas (Eileen) Cousino, Diana "Corky" (Keith) Hymore; Lynn (Sid) Saldanha; brother, Frederick J. (Mary) Norris; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 1-great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandchildren, Megan and Samantha. Friends and family may call in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Avenue, where visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Thomas Aquinas Church for the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Jerry's memory can be made to either Heartland Hospice or Alzheimer Memory Walk 2005 - Team Geraldine.
