Obituary

Glen Edward Eggert Sr., 82, formerly of Curtice, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at his residence in Gibsonburg, Ohio. Glen was born in Dundee, Michigan on August 18, 1928 to Elery and Jenny (Koster) Eggert. On October 18, 1947, he married Shirley Peppers and she survives. Glen's sister, Joyce (Eggert) Peppers was married to Shirley's brother, Bert Peppers; thus dubbing their offspring with the title of double-first cousins. Glenn was employed with Libbey-Owens Ford for 41 years, retiring in 1988. In later years, he was head of security for the former Toledo Sports Arena. He was a longtime member of St. Luke'™s Lutheran Church in Curtice until moving in with his daughter in Gibsonburg, Ohio, where he attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Glen enjoyed deer hunting at his cabin in Roscommon, Michigan, fishing from his boat on Lake Erie, gardening, traveling, along with feeding deer and birds at his home. He was also an avid Michigan Wolverine Football fan. Glen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley, son, Glen (Jan) Eggert Jr. of Friendswood, Texas; daughters, Kathy (Dan) Oberski of Toledo, Ohio, Becky Potter, of Tempe, Arizona, and Judy (Jerry) Bullock, of Gibsonburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Todd Eggert, Kelly Lindell, Jody Surliffe, Shane Potter, Stacy Owad, Jessie Fox, Brook McCasskill, Elisha Ringenberg; 14 great-grandchildren, with his 15th due in a few weeks and half-sister, Audrey Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Joyce Peppers. Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury on Thursday, December 9th from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 4:00 pm.
