Glen Newal
Hamilton
Aug 10, 1936 — Jul 3, 2026
Glen Hamilton could never be bothered with what would be his obituary. That's because he was busy... doing!
Glen was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1936 to Alfred & Myrtle (Tate) Hamilton. They had 13 children, with Glen being in the middle. At age 17, Glen left school to join the Marines. He served proudly and the Marine Corps always had a special place in his heart. He was a parachute rigger, and tester which allowed him to have 86 successful jumps. Glen was an engineer for Conrail and Amtrak. He was also sales manager for "Uncle Waynes Cookies" a tasty job for Glen who loved sweets. He and his wife Shirley loved to travel; Florida, the National Parks, Bus trips and Europe. Glen also worked for JBI Battery, allowing him and Shirley to travel to many states.
Glen was a voracious reader, from newspapers to historical books. He always had a book nearby. When he was not deep in a book, Glen was playing his favorite sport, golf. He was thrilled to finally get a hole in one! Of course, not to be a bragger he would say "the hole just got in the way of the ball".
Glen spent energy in community and social organizations. The Oregonians, the Cooley Canal Yacht Club, Christ Dunberger Post 537, Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society, and especially the Oregon Community Theatre in which he was a major fund raiser, producer, technician, actor, singer and continued inspiration.
Glen and Shirley celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 26, 2026. Together they shared a wonderful fun filled life with children, grandchildren, friends and large extended families on both sides.
Glen is survived by his wife Shirley Ernst Hamilton, Children Kathy (Jim) Imbery, Debbie (Joseph) Badger, Greg (Rhonda) Hamilton and Monica Novakowski. Grandchildren Courtney (Heather) Imbery, Brandon (Cassie) Imbery, Lindsay (Josiah) Drouillard, Mallory (Matthew) Brazeau, Kelsey (Fiancé, Eric Hirzel) Novotney, Adam (Melanie) Badger, Davy Hamilton, Leah and Ruby Novakowski and Vaida Ballantyne. Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Brother, Dan Hamilton, Sister Donna Larocque, Sisters in law Georgia Hamilton, Pat Hamilton and many nieces and nephews. Glen was preceded by death by his parents; Daughter Trisha Hamilton; and his ten siblings and spouses.
Glen will be missed by many. Here's a toast to a man who did so much for so many! A job well done. Rest in Peace.
