Glenn G. Koester, age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Genoa Care Center. He was born on August 18, 1921 in Oregon Township, Ohio to Henry A. and Minnie (Laumann) Koester. He was married to Margaret M. (nee Becker) for 68 years. Glenn was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII serving as a staff sergeant. He proudly served as the chief clerk with the 34th General Hospital on D-Day. Glenn owned and operated Westwood Appliance for 20 years and later was employed with the George Ackerman Co. in the parts department. He was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church.
Glenn is survived by his children, Janice M. (Bruce) Sibbersen of Woodville, OH, Jean L. (David) Wietel mann of Woodville, OH and John Jenkins of Oregon, OH; siblings, Edna Rideout, Donald Koester and Eleanor Cochenour; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M.; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Jenkins; siblings, Elmer, Floyd, Florence Budy and Ruth Zitzelberger.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home 440 South Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman St., Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. where the family will greet visitors at 9:30 A.M. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy in Glenn's memory are asked to consider First St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, Solomon Lutheran Church School, Woodville, OH or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
