Glennis Kathryn Harder passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Glennis was born February 20, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to Walter "Short" and Gladys (Bringe) Dipman. In 1957, Glennis graduated from Genoa High School and was a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and the University of Toledo.
On August 5th 1960 she married the love of her life Denny Harder who preceded her in death on June 11, 2003. Glennis worked as a registered nurse 32 years at St. Charles Hospital and retired as nursing supervisor of surgery in 2002. Glennis was fond of saying" When the nuns were gone and computers came in, it was time for me to retire". She was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Genoa. Mom led a full and active life; years of boating on Lake Erie aboard their boat, "A Harder Life". Glennis will be the angel for her "80's Ladies "Bunco group of over 60 years. Put in Bay won't be the same!! She enjoyed monthly Genoa class of 1957 retiree lunches and the Mercy School of Nursing retiree group. For over 30 years, Glennis enjoyed wintering in Florida with her large extended family and many close friends. Mom will be remembered as a generous, kind, and loving person who enjoyed living life to the fullest. She took great pride in leading and loving her family. She will be taking with her a lifetime of cherished memories of raising her two children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her children will readily admit they were raised by the best mom in the world. Glennis' loving nature also allowed her to connect deeply with her grandchildren. Her deep commitment to family has been passed along and is evident not only in her grandchildren's close relationship with her, but with each other.
She will be greatly and fondly remembered by her children Michael (Shelley) Harder and Gayle (Dave) Millinger; grandchildren, Ryan (Jamie) Harder. Cody (Shelby)Harder Olivia Harder, Matthew Shiffert and Jason Shiffert; great grandchildren, Lacey, Fritz, Liesel, Otto, Emerson and Graham; sister- in -law, Corrie Harvey; brother- in- law, Gary Noble; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to her husband, Denny, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carol Oestreich, Sandra Noble and brother, Wayne Dipman.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11:00 am in the funeral home where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Interment: Clay Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Genoa Area Local Schools Scholarship Foundation or Green Options for Autism of Lucas County LLC.
