Gloria J. Liegel, 78, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with her family by her side. Gloria was born in Toledo, Ohio, on January 3, 1943, to Norman and Betty (Carlin) Yard.
Gloria was a graduate of Macomber Whitney Vocational High School. She was a cosmetologist for many years and ended her career serving the community as a grief counselor.
Gloria was an active member of Epiphany of the Lord Parish (St. Thomas Aquinas Church) for more than 50 years as well as a member of the Oregon Business and Professional Women's Group and the St. Charles Auxiliary. She was an avid volunteer in the community and enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's activities. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family.
Gloria always made people around her feel special. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her loving children, Gene (Karen) Liegel, Maurine (Byron) Clymer, Brian Liegel, Matt (Katie) Liegel, and Becky (Gary) Stegall; grandchildren, Jordan, McKayla, Nicole, Spencer, Kaden, Jackson, Madeline, and Elodie; sister, Frankie (Terry) Nygard; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Dee Haack. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and her siblings, Bonnie Hulit, Norman Yard, Jr., and Paula Molnar Fels.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, August 23, from 2-8 p.m. at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 24, at Epiphany of the Lord Parish (St. Thomas Church), 729 White St., Toledo, at 11 a.m. The family will greet friends one hour before Mass. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
