Obituary

Harold Carl Ackerman, age 78, went to be with his Lord on December 29, 2006. He was born to George and Elsie (Koob) Ackerman in Toledo, Ohio, on February 17, 1928. He graduated from Clay High School in 1946. Harold was born into a farming family, eventually specializing in fruit farming. During the winter months, through the Merce Boiler Company, he worked on many ships including the Edmund Fitzgerald before its final voyage. He also worked as a finish carpenter and was an expert builder and craftsman. He became an operator at the City of Oregon Water Treatment Plant until his retirement. He was a member of the G. A. F. Society and the Toledo Swiss for some 50 years and enjoyed singing and golfing with his friends. He will be greatly missed by his 2 sons, Gary (Carolyn) Ackerman (daughter, Elisia); Keith (Candy) Ackerman (sons, William and Christopher) and their mother, Marilyn Ackerman; sister, Ruth Cummerow; brothers, George (Elaine) Ackerman and James (Lois) Ackerman along with many friends, nephews and nieces and his friend, Kris Abel. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Bauer and his son, Jeffrey Harold Ackerman. Visitation will be held at Eggleston - Meinert - Pavley Funeral Home, Coy and Starr, in Oregon, 419-698-4301 Thursday January 4th 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at First St. John Lutheran Church on Seaman Street at 12:00 noon Friday, January 5, 2006. Contributions can be made to Lutheran Homes Society, First St. John Lutheran Church or donor's choice. Visitation: Visitation Times Thursday, 2-9 p.m. Oregon Chapel
