Obituary

Harold L. Henningsen of Oregon, age 86 passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2010 after a brief stay at Hospice of Northwest of Ohio. He was born on July 28, 1923 in Ottawa County to Martin and Emma (Johnson) Henningsen of Curtice, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia (Grosjean) Henningsen who died in 2000. Also preceded in his death were 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Harold was extremely proud of his family and spent an enormous amount of time with all of them throughout his life. He and Virginia spent many wonderful winters with friends and family at their winter home in Coral Springs, Florida. Harold and Virginia enjoyed traveling, taking numerous trips around the US as well as Europe. He also was an avid golfer, sports enthusiasts, and a very competitive euchre partner. His sense of humor was evident right through to the very end of his life. Harold was a long- standing member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Oregon. He served his country in WWII and was part of the famed Merrill'™s Marauders unit, and was a member of Christ Dunberger American Legion Post 537 . He retired from Jeep Corporation in 1976 and worked for McCroskey Builders before fully retiring. Harold is survived by his daughters, Carol (George) Barrett of Oregon, Barbara (Dennis) Harrison of Bucks County, PA, Janet (Bob) Gladieux of Northwood; son Michael (Michelle) Henningsen of Toledo; grandchildren, Kevin (Andrea) Barrett, Deidra Bennett, and George (Sommer) Barrett all of Toledo, Michelle Harrison of Guilford CT, Scott (Serena) Harrison of Atlanta, GA., Amy Gladieux of Cleveland, Robert Gladieux of Perrysburg, Jillian Gladieux of Northwood, Christopher and Hayden Henningsen of Toledo; great grandchildren Clare, Raquel and Daniel Bennett, Eryn Barrett and Elijah Barrett. Harold is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth 'œBetty' Schroeder of Curtice, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, March 14, from 2-8pm at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Monday at 9:30am and will continue to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Rd., Oregon, for the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00am. Interment services will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions in Harold'™s memory made to either St. Ignatius Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. They also wish to thank the entire staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care and medical attention Harold received during his stay. Visitation: Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 2 to 8 pm Services: Monday, March 15, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Ignatius Catholic Church Interment: St. Ignatius Cemetery
