Harold E. Shank, 91, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 15, 2021 at his home. Gene was born in Oregon, Ohio May 11, 1929 to Forrest and Thrilba (Latta) Shank. He graduated from Clay High School in 1949 and served proudly in United States Air Force. Following military service, Gene worked 32 years as a pipefitter with GM Powertrain, retiring in 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, and gardening. He will be remembered by those who loved him dearly for his gentle soul.
Gene is survived by his wife of 16 years, Margaret; children, Rusty (Lynn) Carter, Cathy Rogers (John Toth), Randy (Shellie) Carter, Pat Brown, and Mike (Laurie) Carter; siblings, Homer (Mary) Shank, Patsy (Bob) Guthrie; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bonnie; daughter, Bonnie Jean Shank; and siblings, Richard Shank, Forest Shank, and Shirley Jacobs.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Private funeral services will be live streamed Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at www.egglestonmeinert.com, click on Harold Shank obituary, and click on view live stream. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Williston Cemetery. State mandate mask wearing and social distancing will be observed in the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Heartland Hospice or Bono Baptist Church where he was a member.
