A funeral service for Harry W. Blausey, 81, of Newark, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Barb Salyers officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church, 88 N. 5th St. Newark, Ohio. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Elliston Cemetery, Graytown, Ohio
Harry died unexpectedly on Saturday February 25, 2023, in the Altercare Newark North Rehabilitation Center in Newark, OH. He was born September 28, 1941, in Elmore Ohio, to the Wilson H. and E. Paulina (Bothe) Blausey. He celebrated 59 Years of Marriage with his soulmate Beverly (Barshel) whom he married on June 23rd, 1963, in Elliston, Ohio.
Harry is survived by his wife, Beverly of Newark; daughter Diane (Rodney) Ringhiser of Newark; sons, Steven (Erika) Blausey of Blacklick, OH and David (Shevaun) Blausey of Seattle WA; grandchildren, Brandi and David Ringhiser and Nicholas and Lauren Blausey; sisters, Jane (Thomas) Milbrodt of Bowling Green and Carol (Samuel) Bolander of Martin OH; seven nieces, and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Blausey. Harry received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from The Ohio State University in 1964. He was a band director at Bluffton High School, Oak Harbor High School, and Newark High School. After teaching music for 10 years, Harry became a Real Estate Broker. He sold real estate in central Ohio for 33 years.
Harry was a member of The Ohio State University Marching and Alumni Bands. He enjoyed taking several trips with the Alumni Band to Japan, Ireland, England, and Germany, as well as participating in local events. Harry was an avid OSU fan and attended many home football and bowl games. Harry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark; he was a Choir Member for almost 40 years. He was a member of the Columbus Power Squadron. Harry enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and was a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club for many years.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to First United Methodist Church, or the Ohio State University Alumni Band. Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
