Harry B. Cowell Jr., 88, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Harry was born in Toledo, Ohio to Harry Sr. and Lillian (Eckenroade) on March 4, 1925. He worked at New Mather Metal for 38 years retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army as a Combat Engineer. He served in both the Philippines and New Guinea. Harry was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
Harry is survived by children, Connie Pilaczynski, MaryBeth (John) Agby, Dianne Cowell, David (Lisa) Cowell, and Gary (MaryAnn) Cullum; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Peart and Gladys Kesler. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clark, Arthur, and Clifford; and sisters, Vivian Ery and Violet Cook.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 2:00 pm '" 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery. In memory of Harry'™s love of animals, memorials may be directed to the ASPCA or the Toledo Humane Society.
