Harry Alan Ranes, of Oregon, Ohio died on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 in Heartland of Perrysburg. He was born on July 21, 1926, in Toledo, to Harry E. and Virginia (Landis) Ranes. On November 4, 1946 he married Marjorie Rothenbuhler and she survives. Alan was a US Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Ranes retired in 1986 form Standard Oil
Refinery after 35 years as a G.O. Operator. He was a member for 35 years of the Oil, Atomic and Chemical Workers Union. Alans favorite things included photography, new cars, movies, traveling, the Smokey Mountains, books, the zoo, and music, including opera, big band and country. On every election day, Alan was the first to vote.
In addition to his wife Marjorie, Alan is survived by two sons, Danny (Susan) and Dennis (Joan) Ranes; grandchildren, Shannon (Greg) Cox of Denver, CO, Sean (Connie) Ranes, Beth Jane Ranes, Jennifer (Dan) Shadeland, Dennis (Nicole) Ranes and Christine Berger; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Joann McVicker; sister-in-law, Betty South;
brother-in-laws, Donald (Ruth) Rothenbuhler and Mac (Ann) Rothenbuhler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dale, Charles, and Larry; special grandmother, Minnie Maud and grandfather, Charles Ernest Ranes
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road with the Rev. Dan Jackson officiaiting. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 9 pm. The family will later travel to Independence Pass, near Aspen, Colorado to celebrate Alans life. The
