Hazel Fisher, 85, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away on Monday May 31, 2004
surrounded by her loving family,in the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
Hazel was born on January 3, 1919 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Samuel and Mary
(Reinhart) McVay. She made her home the past 12 years with her daughter and
son-in-law. From 1954-1971, Hazel worked alongside her husband, Fred, in the
family corner grocery store "Fisher's Market" located at 1951 Delence Street.
Prior to that, from 1932 to 1954, they owned and operated a family store on
Buffalo Street. Following the death of her husband, she worked as a cashier at
McCorkel's Grocery
Store in Oregon, Ohio. The love of Hazel's life, known as "Nini" by her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was spending time with the little ones.
Her arms were always open to hold and love them as often as possible.
Survivors include son, Roger Fisher (Lynn); daughter, Mary E. Pigott (Robert);
grandchildren; Mark Fisher (Terri), David Fisher (Natalie), Jennifer Rohrs
(Roger) and Robert Pigott (Carrie); great-grandchildren, Andrew and Brooke
Fisher, Lily Fisher, Emma, Claire and Ashley Rohrs, Josh Derringer; sister,
Ethel Vollmer and brother, Robert McVay. She also leaves many loving nieces and
nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick Fisher;
sisters, Mary Jo Mierzejewski, Barbara Flood, Alice Arnold; brothers, Richard
McVay and Tom McVay.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy
Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, June 3, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00
pm. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions in Hazel's memory may be made to Hospice of Northwest
Ohio.
