Helen Bossert died peacefully at her daughter's home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the age of 98, after years of declining health due to Parkinson's disease. She was born on May 8, 1921, the third of five children, in Toledo, Ohio, to Julius and Elizabeth Toka, both
immigrants from Hungary. Helen graduated from Waite High School in 1939 and married Robert Bossert in 1948. They resided in East Toledo for their entire marriage, raising four children as members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Helen chose to continue employment outside the home at Pure Oil Refinery and then Union Oil of California, retiring in 1983. Over the years she enjoyed Sundays of pinochle and rides in the country, Tuesday nights of team bowling, evenings of crossword puzzles and old movies. Late summers involved the ritual of canning peaches, tomatoes, and other summer harvest. She spent over half a century
of summers and autumns at the family cottage in the Irish Hills. For a short span in the 1980's, she and Bob sojourned in Florida for winter months.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2007 and daughter, Annette in 1993; parents; sisters, Elizabeth Jakab, Margaret Nemeth, Marianne Harcsa and brother, Julius Toka. She was the last living member of her birth family. Surviving are her children, Helen (Steven) Patterson, Robert Bossert, James (Suzanne) Bossert; grandchildren, Courtney
and Scott Patterson; James and Jennifer Bossert.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S,. Coy Road Oregon, on Monday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with Scripture services held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at Epiphany of the Lord Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 Oswald Street, at 11:00 am, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Helen's family would like to thank caregivers Deneen,
