Obituary

Helen A. Giroux, 97, of East Toledo, passed away Friday, April 16, 2004, in Tendercare of Monroe Nursing Center. Mrs. Giroux was born on July 18, 1906, in Detroit, MI, to John and Flodene (Perry) Knapp. Helen graduated from Waite High School in 1925 and Davis Business College. She was employed for 24 years as a supervisor at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Northwest Ohio, retiring in 1970. She was a life long member of the former Euclid United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the Christian Club and the Altar Guild. Helen also was a member of the Blue Cross Retirees Club. Helen loved to travel and also had a special interest for the care of domestic and wild animals, being very fond of cats. Surviving are her son, Jack (Bonnie) Giroux of Monroe, MI; granddaughter, Joette (Dan) Phillips of Paducah, KY; niece, Judy (Paul) Brunswick of Easton, PA, and nephew, Rick (Barb) Knapp of Edestow, SC; sister-in-law, Virginia Knapp of Bethlehem, PA, and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and brother, Harold Knapp. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, on Monday, April 19, 2004, from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Unity United Methodist Church or The Toledo Humane Society. Visitation: Visitation Times 2-9 Monday Coy Road Chapel
