Helen L. Smothers, 97, of Pemberville, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006 in Otterbein Portage Valley.  Helen was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 19, 1909 to William and Mary (Ordway) Smothers.  She graduated from Pemberville High School in 1927 and was employed as a telephone operator with Sun Oil for 44 years retiring in 1972.  Helen was a lifelong member of East Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for 65 years.  She also was a past member of the Sun Oil Company Desk & Derrick.   Surviving is her niece, Joan Butler of Ormond Beach, FL; dear friends, Ken & Judy Sigler of Walbridge, OH and several other nieces and nephews.   Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 12 noon in Willow Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Otterbein Portage Valley.   Rest well, good and faithful servant.  Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury, OH Visitation: Visitation Times
