Obituary

Helen C. Steinke, 98, of Walbridge, Ohio, and formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on November 22, 1914 in Ft. Edward, New York to Emil and Amelia (Leis) Betcher. Helen married Harold Steinke in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1990. Helen was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Helen held the honor of being the oldest member of the congregation. She was a member of the GBU and volunteered at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. Helen enjoyed traveling to Germany, polka dancing and knitting hats. Helen is survived by her children; Carolyn (Gary) Schimmel Glynn (Cheryl) Steinke, and Jeff (Gini) Steinke; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Klatt and Ruth Betcher; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Betcher. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; sisters, Dorothy Leck and Martha Betcher; and brothers, Walter and Richard Betcher. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, February 8th 2013 from 4:00 pm ��" 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 9th 2013 at 11:00 am in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 106 Plumer Street, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
