Helen M. Szczerbiak, 90, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Lutheran Home of Toledo. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 14, 1919, to Michael and Anna (Lesinczky) Danko. Helen was a longtime member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, and past president of VFW #4906 Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing bingo. Helen is survived by her children, Joseph (June) Szczerbiak, Carol (Nate Jones) Szczerbiak, grandchildren; Tamara, Rebekah, Joseph Jr., and Bradley, great-grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Irene, and Bradley Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adam; brothers, Michael, Joseph, and John Danko; sisters, Anna Benedick and Mary Nagy. Friends may call at Kinsey Funeral Home, 2001 Consaul; Street, Toledo on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to St. Stephens Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St Ignatius Cemetery.
