Helen Olive (Borton) Turnow (Sommer), age 96, of Oregon, OH went to be with her Lord and Savior on Resurrection weekend, April 4, 2026. A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Helen was born to Paul and Olive (Cosens) Borton on July 6, 1929. She married Rolland Turnow in 1950, and they enjoyed fifty years of marriage before his death in 2001. She was blessed to marry Doyle Sommer on May 18, 2008, and he survives.

Helen put her family first and showed her care for them in many practical ways. Her children Jeffery (Deb) Turnow, Michael (Laurie) Turnow, Cynthia (Dean) Breese, and Steven (Nancy) Turnow, as well as Lisa Marie Turnow who died in 1981, all benefited from their mother's sewing/quilting skills and baked goods that included homemade noodles, pies, and sugar cookies. She also shared canned fruits and vegetables from her huge garden. Fourteen grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild all appreciated time spent with their Grandma Turnow who loved babies!

Helen was known for her busy hands as she worked for others. She was a dedicated farm wife and worked as an R.N. at St. Charles Hospital for 40+ years in the Newborn Nursery. She then volunteered in the Women's Center.

A committed member at Main Street United Brethren Church, Helen was a generous and dutiful Christian woman who helped others in times of need.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, 1111 Woodville Rd., Millbury, OH at 11:00am, with visitation 9-11am before the service. A graveside service at Elliston Cemetery, 17595 W. Toussaint North Rd., Graytown, OH will follow directly. A luncheon will then be hosted by the family at Trinity U.C.C. Elliston, 17955 W. 3rd St., Elliston, OH and all are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen Turnow's name to Main Street United Brethren Church or a charity of your choice.
