Helen J. Vargo, 87, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully at the home on November 13, 2003 in her home. She was born on August 5, 1916 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Joseph and Elizabeth Takach. Helen was the widow of Joseph Vargo who preceded her in death in 2001. She had been employed for over 20 years at the Finance System of Toledo before her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Vargo was a member of Calvin United Church of Christ where she was active with the Kolbasz and Hurka groups. Helen was an avid gardener who always had flowers in her home. She was a member of the Hungarian Embroidery Club and especially enjoyed making beautiful needlecraft afghans and christmas tree skirts for her family. Surviving are her sons, Joseph (Carol), Albert (Rita), John (Kay) and Gary Vargo; sister, Betty Condon; aunt, Irene Vaisil; grandchildren, Michelle Miller, Joey Vargo, Tracy Donnelly, Albert Vargo Jr., Tonya Lilly, Julie Coutcher, Kindra Vargo, Christie Albarelli, Lisa Vargo-Racz and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Joseph, Albert and John Takach. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. where funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.
