Helena G. Rigg, (Mathile) 96, of Oregon, passed away Saturday, December 4th, 2010 at Orchard Villa Retirement Community. She was born on November 16, 1914 to Lewis and Allie (Symonds) Mathile of North Creek, Ohio. On July 31, 1933, she married Gerald C. Rigg and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2000. Helena worked as a cook for 8 years at Lutheran Old Folks Home, retiring in 1974. Helena was a member of James Hancock Senior Center and enjoyed camping, fishing, bingo and playing euchre. She also enjoyed playing piano and embroidered many quilts for her grandchildren. Helena is survived by her children, Shirley (Larry Knudson) Evans, Linda (Vern Snow) Martin, and Eugene (Carol) Rigg, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Annabelle Noon and Thelma Young, brother, Emery Mathile, and sister-in-law, Vera Bidlack. Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon on Tuesday, December 7th from 2;00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
