Henry F. Moyer, 86, of Millbury, OH passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Genoa Care Center . He was born on February 5, 1922 in Beavertown, PA to Frank and Annie (Hackenberg) Moyer. Henry was a 1942 chemical engineering graduate of Penn State University. His first job was with the Trojan Powder Company at the Plum Brook Ordnance plant in Sandusky, Ohio. He was engaged in the plant start up of the manufacture of an explosive (Pentolite) that had never been made before outside the laboratory. He is listed on a permanent roster of key personnel who were engaged in World War II in the manufacture of explosives. After the war, he was employed in the Research division of the L.O.F. Glass Company and moved to Millbury, Ohio, where he and his wife Margaret have resided, both being active in the community. Henry was active in the United Church of Christ and was a member of Memorial UCC in Toledo, Ohio since 1958. He was instrumental in the structuring of the 5 year program for Lay Minister credentialing, and has been recognized as a Lay Minister since its inception, with the last several years being as a licensed lay minister. Henry was instrumental in the development of the Guidelines for Ministerial Wages, served on the Church and Ministry Committee of the Northwest Ohio Association and was a delegate to state conference and national meetings. Henry was Boy Scout leader for 2 years, Justice Of The Peace of Lake Township for 8 years, charter member of the Millbury Volunteer Fire Department, Village Council Member for 8 years, Mayor of Millbury for 6-1/2 years. He was a member of the Masons since 1944 and played trumpet as a member of the Zenobia Shrine Band for many of those years. Henry served on the Northwester Ohio Water and Sewer Board since its inception and was a preparer of income taxes for over 50 years. Surviving are his daughter, Kathrine (Bruce) Wilson of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Marc and Ann Marie Wilson; and great-grandchild, Haidyn. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Margaret. According the Henrys wishes there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at Memorial United Church of Christ on Sunday at 2 p.m. Contributions in Henrys memory can be made to Memorial United Church of Christ or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
