Herman E. Tober, 97, of Northwood, Ohio, was called home on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Orchard Villa Nursing Center while under Hospice of Northwest Ohio care. Herman was born in Toledo on February 1, 1910, to Gustave and Agusta Tober. He was a resident of Oregon for many years, living the past seven years with his daughter, Norma in Lake Township. Mr. Tober was a retired switchman for the former C&O Railroad where he worked for over 30 years before his retirement in 1975.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Tober; daughter, Dorothy Helle; granddaughter, Barbara Miller; sister, Dorothy Petersen and brother, Harold Tober. Surviving are his daughters, Norma (Henry) LaPlante, Joanne (Russell) Bell; son-in-law, Robert Helle; 11 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren and 15 great-great- grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. Memorial contributions in Herman's memory may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
