Horst J. "John" Kutzka, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 7, 2005, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Hirschburg, Germany on June 2, 1933, and enjoyed playing amateur soccer while living in Germany. He was employed as a machine operator for several years with the DeVilbiss Company and Pro-Pak retiring in 2000. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oregon and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Sharon K. (Curles); daughter, Erica H. (Tom) Duris; son, Daniel R. Kutzka; sisters, Waltraud (Lothar) Hilper, Gretal (Dieter) Willers and Ursaula Kutzka and grandchildren, Tommy and Stephanie Duris. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Erika Kutzka and mother-in-law, Helen Greenburg.
Friends and family may visit at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Thursday, November 10, 2005, from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in John's memory are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, First Baptist Church-Oregon or Gideon's International. The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Darcey with Bay Park Community Hospital for all their care.
