Hovita T. Smith, 73, of Toledo Ohio passed away on March 11, 2025 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. She was born on April 28, 1951 to Tomas and Charlotte (Esquibel) Lopez. She was a retired pre-school teacher and worked for Toledo Building Services. Hovita enjoyed watching movies, yard sales, being with family and walking the park. She also enjoyed listening to music, flea markets, antique shops and donuts with her coffee. Hovita loved her family and helped everyone she ever met.

She is survived by her loving husband, Al Smith; children, Al (Jolene), Sara (Luke), Jason, Conchita (Beau) Edgina, Edward (Stacey), Dawn (Eric) and Kellie (Larry); niece, Theresa (Tom); siblings, Tomas, Henry, James, Rita, Lola and Gloria (Roy); many grandchildren from the ages of 36 to 10 (including her adopted grandson, Jason); great grandchildren from the ages of 12 to 11 months; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Charlotte; siblings, Mary, Tomasa, Raymond, Simon and Chucky; and daughter Lorraine.

Friends and family may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 South Coy Road on Sunday, March 16 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Monday March 17 at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum
