Howard G. Carpenter, 85, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and formerly of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Hope Hospice House.
He was born in Webster, West Virginia on January 15, 1927 to Harris and Sarah (Holcomb) Carpenter. In 1948, he married Cora Hymore. Howard was employed with Conrail as an engineer for 39 years, retiring in 1987. Howard enjoyed fishing and spending time in Florida.
He is survived by his son, Howard K. Carpenter; granddaughter, Rebecca Zalar; great-grandchildren, Alanis, Morgan, and Gabriella; brother, Edward (Jeanette) Carpenter, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cora; brothers, Enos and George, and sister, Ireta Brake.
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, on Tuesday February 14th from 5:00-9:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Hope Hospice, Lehigh Acres, Florida.
