Mr. Howard B. Flegle. 94, of Marietta, GA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2004. He was born November 14, 1909, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Forrest and Emma (Schwartz) Flegle. He lived for his first 83 years in East Toledo and on Luverne Dr. in Oregon before relocating to Marietta, GA to be near his son and family.
Howard graduated from Waite High School and attended the University of Toledo. He was employed for over 36 years at Champion Spark Plug Company prior to his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the Champion Square Club and Champion Bowling League for many years. He served in the Army during World War II in Europe. Howard was a Mason and member of the Port Lawrence Lodge for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in East Toledo for over 50 years and served as an Elder, Deacon and was active in Senior Adults. He also bowled for many years in the Lutheran Men's League. He was a member of the Oregonians and served as a volunteer at St. Charles Hospital, both for many years.
He is survived by his son, Greg (Betty) Flegle and grandson, Zachary of Marietta, GA; sister, Genevieve Curran of Coral Gables, FL and brother, Carlton (Bud) Flegle of Dearborn, MI. He was preceded in his death by his wife Joanne (Hatfield) Flegle and sister, Marge Holder.
Viewing and reception by the family will be Tuesday July 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, Oregon, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday July 28 with Rev. Beth Giller officiating. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your local Hospice, St. Mark Lutheran Church or your favorite charity in his memory.
