Obituary

Hugo V. Lopez, 87, of Park Ridge, IL, formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Lutheran General Hospital. He was born in Toledo, OH on September 3, 1924 to Peter G. and Aurora H. (Hernandez) Lopez. Hugo served his country in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Minneapolis. On May 11, 1946, he married Carmen Sierra. He was a graduate of The University of Toledo where he earned bachelors degrees in Education and Pharmacology. Hugo was employed with Doehler Jarvis and Lathrop Contractors as a laborer for many years. He taught junior high science in Toledo Public Schools for many years. He later worked as a pharmacist with Riverside Hospital where he retired as director in 1985. He was a member of the Toledo and Tucson Academies of Pharmacies and was a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. In his spare time, he enjoyed walking and photography. Hugo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carmen; children, Rebecca (John) Large, Robert (Sharlene), and Michael (Denise); grandchildren, John Jr. (Jill), Michael (Kristen), Jacqueline, Robert Jr., Victor (Stephanie), Brett Michael, Darlene (Douglas), Brandon (Deandra), Deena (Bryan), Ronda, and Tamra; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sylvia Weber and Margarita Alexander. Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, where friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to AID For Women, 8 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL. 60603. Visitation: Friday, 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in church Services: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church Interment: Ottawa Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum
