Irene E. Gall, 86, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 26, 1929 to Louis and Susie (Morvai) Kovacs. Irene graduated from Whitney High School and then went on to work for Tiedtke's Department Store. In her younger years she worked at the family gas station while the men in the family were serving their country. One of her highlights of her time at Tiedtke's was starring in the PBS documentaries, "Lets Go Down to Tiedtke's." Irene was a life member at Calvin United Church of Christ where she was a faithful member, serving as a Sunday School Teacher as well as singing in the choir. Irene married her husband Steve Gall on November 5, 1949 who preceded her in death. What was most important to her was spending time with her family. Irene's legacy and family traditions will continue to live on forever. She is survived by her daughter, Irene Meech; son, Steve (Simone) Gall; granddaughters, Julie (Chris) Iemma, Melanie (Mike) Jarvis; many nieces, nephews and other loving family members, especially her buddy and nephew, Louis Soltis. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Steve; brother, Louis Kovacs Sr.; sister, Helen Soltis and son-in-law, Henry Meech. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 2-8 pm. The family will greet friends on Thursday at Calvin United Church of Christ, 1946 Bakewell St. Toledo, OH 43605 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 10:00 am.
