Irene E. Seeger, 81, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014. Irene was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 21, 1932 to George and Irene (Gneiser) Sawade. On June 30, 1956, she married Robert Seeger. Irene was a 1950 graduate of Waite High School, where she was an active member of the Alumni Association. In 1954, Irene graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Toledo University, where she was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Irene was a teacher at Raymer and Starr Elementary Schools for over 20 years. A devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Irene was an active in the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher. In late years, Irene was a reading tutor at Starr Elementary School and volunteered at Bay Park Community Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Robert to Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii. Her true passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Irene is survived by her children, Sara (Charles) Parsons, Mark Seeger, and Brian (Karen) Seeger; grandchildren, Allison Parsons, Alexis Seeger, and Bradley Seeger; sister, Jackie (Dan) Romano, Shirley (Jim) Brewer-Donoher; sister-in-law, Faye Scholl; brother-in-law, Don Spear; along with many nieces, nephews, and loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and sister, Deloris Spear.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Road, Toledo. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Irene Sawade - Seeger Scholarship Fund at Waite High School.
