Irvin E. "Pete" Barber, 57, of Oregon, OH passed away December 10, 2003 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He
was born on December 8, 1946 in Toledo, OH to Irvin E., Sr. and Mary Alice (Hummel) Barber. Pete was a
veteran of the US Air Force, serving his country as a sergeant in Vietnam. He was employed by the Norfolk &
Southern railroad as a tower operator for 34 years, and was chairman for the Trans Communication Union. Pete
was member of St. Ignatius Parish where he was a Eucharistic minister and parish council member. He was an
avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed working in his yard.
Surviving are is wife Mary Ann; sons, Brandon J. and Peter J. Barber; brother, Jack (Laura) Barber; sisters,
Janet (James) Finn and Carol (Thomas) Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret
Barber.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy
Road, Oregon, OH on Friday, December 12, 2003 from 2-9 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral
services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church for
a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Contributions in Pete's
memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Adult Day Care Center.
